It's officially baking season, and for those of you than like to cook and bake, this is going to be worth a read!
We're going to give you a recipe for Canna-Butter, which is regular butter combined with THC. It's the foundation for all edibles! Butter is a better outlet for combining THC to anything as it's got more fat in it than regular cooking oil. THC molecules stick to the fat in the butter, which means that any edible you make with Canna-Butter will be potent as well as tasty. Sometimes when using oil you get an oily leafy aftertaste. With butter, you can hardly taste it. Enjoy a nice high and a delicious cookie or brownie. Cooking with cannabis can be a lot of fun, and we're hoping to see if you guys might have any recipes to share!
To make Canna-Butter, you're going to need the following:
1lb (0.5kg) unsalted butter
2 cups water
1oz (28g) decarboxylated, finely-ground cannabis.
Large saucepan / pot
Large glass bowl
Strainer/Sieve to fit over glass bowl
First and foremost, a lot of you may not know what it means to decarboxylate weed. When you smoke or vaporize marijuana, the cannabis is decarbed by the heat. If you ingest cannabis and want the full psychoactive effect, you need to first decarb your cannabis before you cook with it. Basically in this process we are separating terpenes from THC.
Preheat your oven to either 240 degrees for a slower decarb, or to 310 for a shorter decarb. Use an oven thermometer to check the temperature.
At 240 degrees it should take about 40-60 minutes and at 310 degrees it should take about 10-18 minutes.
After you've done this step, you can begin to make the actual canna-butter!
Once the butter is made, you can begin cooking with it! This is where things start to get fun. If everyone in your home is 21 or older, feel free to share what you've made with them, but ONLY if they want to try it. You must tell them what it's made out of. If there are children in your home, be sure to store these treats in a container out of their reach and be sure to tell them not to try any. Be honest with your kids and explain to them that these treats are for adults only.
